"Big Hero 6" is the highly-anticipated first collaboration between Disney Animation Studios and Marvel. The film doesn't hit theaters until November, but it's expected to continue the stellar success of Disney's Marvel properties since it purchased the superhero studio in 2009.
But long before that historic deal, Disney was pretty super on its own. Along with Pixar, Disney introduced us to "The Incredibles" in 2004, and we all fell in love with Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash and Jack Jack. Now, we get to see "The Incredibles" like never before.
Filmmaker Bobby Burns has transformed "The Incredibles" into a Christopher Nolan film with some fancy editing. This parody trailer totally captures the feeling of a Nolan film with "The Incredibles's" deranged villain Syndrome placed in "The Joker" role of Nolan's "The Dark Knight." However, we all know no one could ever live up to Heath Ledger's exceptionally sinister performance.
The trailer has all of the elements you would expect from a Nolan film: a throbbing backbeat to set the tone of anticipation, bold, dramatic music, the mind games played between the hero and the villain, and the world in some serious danger. The tone of this trailer is so dramatic, it looks like a completely different movie than the original "Incredibles."
However, it's kind of weird to watch this knowing that Nolan famously directed a trilogy for a character out of the DC universe. Now that Marvel has become so synonymous with Disney, this whole thing makes me feel a little bit awkward. Don't you feel the same way?
If you dug this video, Burns has plenty more where that came from on his YouTube channel, including movie reviews, a video that turned "Frozen" into a horror flick, a reimagining of "Star Wars" as a Quentin Tarantino movie and a mash-up of "Breaking Bad" and "Ted."
You may remember another Pixar movie that got the parody treatment a couple of weeks ago, "Up." The 2009 animated film was magically transformed into a version that Michael Bay could have made, complete with explosions everywhere, a Linkin Park song and a steely title card. It is nothing short of perfection.
I think this now requires a viewing of every Pixar movie and the whole "Dark Knight" trilogy. What do you say?
