Batman seen patrolling the streets of Japan

It's not every day you get to see the Dark Knight in real life.

A Twitter user in Japan, named Ryu-chan and posting under @snsd_mumin, saw Batman over the weekend. Really.

The Caped Crusader was spotted flying down a highway in Japan on a motorcycle. As can be seen from one photo, he had the black cowl, cape and armor resembling the Batman from the recent trilogy of films from director Christopher Nolan. The motorcycle resembled, but not exactly replicated, the Bat Pod from "The Dark Knight."

According to Kotaku, the photos were taken on a highway in the Chiba prefecture of Japan.

Batman is the masked street vigilante that first appeared in May 1939, in Detective Comics #27. The character has since appeared in countless cartoons, television shows and films. This year is the 75th anniversary of the character's creation by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. DC Entertainment has been commemorating the anniversary with a variety of special events and merchandise.

Batman will be returning to movie theaters in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." "Gotham" is a new television show debuting on FOX in September that depicts the early days of Lieutenant Gordon's career in the titular city, after the events that inspired Bruce Wayne as a child to become Batman as an adult.

You can see more photos of Batman that Ryu-chan shot on his Twitter account.
