FOX shows off its new Batman drama, 'Gotham'

FOX's "Gotham" is less than a month off, and fans are waiting with baited breath for the premiere of the show.

The program is the origin story of the most recognized fictional city in all of comic fandom, Batman's home of Gotham City. The city is riddled with crime and it is a character in and of itself; gritty and grimy and corrupt as hell. Enter rookie detective James "Jim" Gordon to sweep up the hot mess that is Gotham. However, Gordon will have to deal with crooked cop and partner Harvey Bullock, as well as an entire wave of Batman's classic villains.

That's right, Batman fans can rejoice because we are getting peeks at the young Catwoman, Riddler, the Penguin, Poison Ivy and it has been teased that even the Joker will make an appearance in the first season.

Since most of us did not catch the world premiere of "Gotham" at the San Diego Comic Con last month, FOX has released three behind-the-scenes videos totaling about 20 minutes long that give us a good idea of what to expect from the new drama. The idea is that rookie Gordon's first case is the homicide of Bruce Wayne's parents: Thomas and Martha.

Through the grisly murder, Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon are forever linked and the murder will haunt both of them for the rest of their lives. Also in the fold is a brand new character named Fish Mooney played by Jada Pinkett-Smith, who is an up and comer in the Gotham underworld. Take a look at the clips and enjoy as we get a behind-the-scenes look of the cinematic feel of the world of FOX's "Gotham."
