BFG From 'Doom' Is Back And Ready For Carnage In New Multiplayer Trailer

Few video game weapons are as iconic (and as deadly) as Doom's BFG. It is the ultimate power weapon, a massive one-shot kill cannon that is capable of obliterating even the mightiest of demons in an instant.

It's only natural then that Bethesda and ID's Doom reboot also features the franchise's most notorious weapon, and we get to see a little of it in action in the game's latest multiplayer trailer.

There are plenty of guns and guts on display here, but it's not just powerful weapons that players can take for a spin in Doom's multiplayer matches. Demons themselves are power-ups, allowing players to transform into one of the game's four deadly monsters and unleash death and destruction on opposing players. This trailer shows our first look at the Baron of Hell and the Prowler. The Baron of Hell looks to a be a tank of sorts, able to withstand large amounts of damage while picking up foes and ripping them apart. The Prowler, on the other hand, is small, fast and capable of leaping large distances, perfect for ambushing the other team.

Various standard FPS power-ups can also be acquired in the form of invisibility and quad damage. Then, there are the power weapons themselves. For players who love to get up close and personal, the chainsaw is a spectacularly gory way to score some kills. Players who enjoy a little more finesse can use the Gauss Cannon. Of course, there is also the BFG, which unleashes a massive energy blast.

You can watch all the carnage unfold in the trailer below.

Bethesda also recently blew the lid off of Doom's multiplayer modes. The game will sport six different modes, including creative modes like Freeze Tag and Soul Harvest. Don't worry, though, because classic modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination will be playable as well.

Doom blasts its way to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on May 13. Fans recently had the opportunity to vote on Doom's alternative cover art, after widespread distaste for the game's original cover spread across the Web. You can read more about that here.
