Battleborn enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Kicking off on April 8, the much-awaited Battleborn open beta is scheduled for a 10-day run ending on April 18.
Last Oct. 29 marked the start of the Battleborn closed beta where a number of selected fans of the phenomenal next-gen hero-shooter game were given the opportunity to play the game in a series of closed technical tests on each of the three platforms - PC, PS4, and Xbox One - to test-drive the game by squashing bugs, balancing characters, stressing servers and testing online infrastructure among others before the game's Feb. 9 release.
Now, open beta is the latest craze where players are given access to the game's two multi-player modes and two episodes of the story mode. Note the following dates for open beta:
- April 8 for PS4
- April 13 for PS4, PC and Xbox One
- April 18 is the end of open beta
Before the release of the full game, which is scheduled on May 3, open beta gives Battleborn players a chance to indulge earlier and get going with their quest to save the last star in the universe, equipped with 25 very distinct heroes with the option to go into the exciting Story Mode or delve into 5v5 in Competitive Multiplayer Matches.
In a press release that gave details on the Story Mode, 2K announced that PS4 Battleborn players are given a special early access to open beta, coupled with an even better chance to receive a bonus 26th hero after the May 3 release if they participate in the open beta.
Pre-load is scheduled on April 6 for all platforms, with a difference of a few hours among the three consoles. Open Beta is available worldwide through PlayStation Network for PS4, Steam for PC and Microsoft Store for Xbox One.
Also, the approximate download sizes for each platform are as follows:
- 8.5 GB for PS4
- 12 GB for PC
- 11 GB for Xbox One
"Battleborn requires an Internet connection to play, whether you're playing single player, co-operatively with friends or competitively against others," 2K says.
