Huawei has recently sent out invitations for an event on April 6, when it is widely expected that the company's next flagship smartphone, the Huawei P9, will be unveiled.
It is said that the Huawei P9 will have at least four models, namely the Huawei P9, the Huawei P9 Max, the Huawei P9 Lite and a custom model with extra RAM and screen size between the Huawei P9 and the Huawei P9 Max.
The smartphones are slightly different from each other in terms of specifications, but all of the models will have a dual-camera setup at the back.
Recent photos posted by Chinese website MyDrivers provides a closer look at what is seemingly the Huawei P9 or one of its models, with the pictures showing Huawei's president using the smartphone.
In addition to the dual cameras located at the back of the smartphone, a flash unit can also be seen beside the cameras with a fingerprint sensor in the middle of the device's back. In addition, there is also something below the flash unit that is undetermined at this time.
The unknown unit could be a laser autofocus system or a sensor, though with the April 6 event just a couple of weeks away, users will not have to wait long to find out what the mysterious unit is.
As for the dual cameras, they were the focus of teaser images that Huawei recently released. The three images featured the hashtag #OO, also found in the invitations sent out for the April 6 event, which alludes to the dual-camera setup of the Huawei P9.
One of the teased images is an underwater shot featuring a swimmer and a dolphin. Could it be that the Huawei P9 is also waterproof?
As with the mysterious unit at the back of the Huawei P9, the question will be answered in two weeks.
The Huawei P9 will pack the Kirin 950 chipset and 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB default storage, while the low-end Huawei P9 Lite will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 and 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB default storage. The Huawei P9 Max will have the Kirin 955 chipset and 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB default storage.
