As season six of "The Walking Dead" comes to a close, fans know that the dreaded moment in the comics and TV series also approaches: Glenn Rhee's violent death. Showrunner Scott Gimple, however, hints at something that not only deviates from the comics but will also pull the rug from under everyone's feet.
Glenn's life was repeatedly on the line in season six and the producers seem to enjoy messing with everyone's mind because the episodes keep threatening his life only to survive for what will eventually be a more horrific death. Negan and his barbed baseball bat, Lucille, are in but does that mean Lucille gets to do the "honor" of sending Steven Yeun to the "Talking Dead?" We're not so sure about that.
"[If] you have read the comics, there are a lot of moments directly out of the book when it comes to the Saviors [...] And some hard left turns from the comic story that do eventually wind up with a lot of very familiar small scenes from the book and big scenes from the book," Gimple said.
What hard left turns, Scott?!
Apparently, there may be a possibility that Rick Grimes will have to choose between Negan and Glenn and, whatever happens in that moment is something that may just be more horrifying. If you can't imagine just how horrifying, picture this: Andrew Lincoln lost sleep after reading the script.
"I felt sick to my stomach when I read the script [...] I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get back to sleep. I was so angry and frustrated and I felt sick," Lincoln revealed in an interview.
It is also possible that Rick may choose Negan over Glenn or perhaps take out one of the other major characters. Whichever it is, it is definitely not going to shock everyone.
"Andy talks about being late to work; I didn't want to go to work that day. It took a really, really long time for everybody to feel okay again after the finale, let's put it that way," Lauren Cohan who plays Maggie, Glenn's wife, revealed.
Theories are out and some speculate that Michonne, Carol or Daryl could even be the ones whose lives are threatened. Let's not forget about Carl who may just be the best bait to get Rick to do anything in exchange for keeping him safe.
Anything can happen, but considering Lincoln's reaction to the script for the last episode, we have at least a clue that Rick has something to do with it.
