'The Walking Dead' Producer Reveals That Carol Was Supposed To Die In Season Three

In the last five and a half seasons of AMC's "The Walking Dead," Carol Peletier can be considered as an ultimate survivor since her character developed drastically from all the experiences she went through since the zombie outbreak happened, so it is definitely a surprise that the showrunners, as Greg Nicotero revealed in the latest issue of SFX Magazine, considered killing Carol in season three in favor of T-Dog.

Nicotero, co-executive producer, director and special effects make-up designer for "The Walking Dead" was serious when he revealed the bit of information that could have removed one of the people's favorite survivors in the series.

"Not a lot of people know that when we were shooting season three... there was a moment where Carol was going to die in lieu of T-Dog's character... they didn't know where to take her character," he revealed.

Carol has survived more than just the zombie apocalypse when she lost her useless chunk of an abusive husband, discovered that her lost daughter had been in a barn with a horde of other walkers for a while even as they searched for her, been kicked out and ostracized by Rick and company for taking extreme measures and reunited with them to survive a lot more events.

All the harrowing experiences, anguish, paranoia and fear had turned Carol into an effective walker and soon-to-be-walker killer so, at this point in time, it is hard to imagine that the writers did not have a clue what to do with her.

Then again, the situation was understandable since the graphic novel version of Carol was supposed to die at that point in time and for a reason that is not even close to admirable. At least TV Carol was able to make an impact and she's really trying to prove that her life continues to be valuable in spite of the desolation they all face.

"The Walking Dead" will begin to rip our hearts out again when the mid-season premieres on Feb. 14.
