For the diehard Tarantino fans out there (you know who you are), the anticipation leading up to the talented director's new films is almost always just as much fun as the films themselves. Such is the case with Tarantino's latest film in the works, The Hateful Eight.
When the script was leaked online earlier this year, Tarantino decided to shelve the Western-themed film because he was betrayed by somebody who he had entrusted -- an action that a lot of people -- Hollywood icons or not -- could probably relate to:
"I'm very, very depressed. I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out today," the director, said.
"I gave it to three actors: Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth. The one I know didn't do this is Tim Roth. One of the others let their agent read it, and that agent has now passed it on to everyone in Hollywood. I don't know how these f****ing agents work, but I'm not making this next. I'm going to publish it, and that's it for now. I give it out to six people, and if I can't trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I'll publish it. I'm done. I'll move on to the next thing. I've got 10 more where that came from," Tarantino, stated.
Regardless of who leaked it, based on the public's response to the script leak it's safe to say that there is a lot anticipation surrounding the film -- likely due to the fact that his only other Western, 'Django Unchained', is also a Western and his biggest hit to date (monetarily speaking).
Despite the understandable decision to shelve the new Western, Tarantino has kept the ball rolling with The Hateful Eight's production and the proof is in a trailer that was recently leaked on YouTube via a smartphone:
While the trailer is purely graphical and doesn't show any actual film footage, it's safe to say that this is also going to be a hit that's on-par with the success that Django Unchained was able to wrangle.
No word from Camp Tarantino yet but if the public's interest in leaked material says anything about interest in the film, he would be wise to keep the cameras rolling rather than shelving it yet again.
The film is expected to be released in 2015.
