'Hunger Games' star Jennifer Lawrence eyed for Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight'

Anytime Quentin Tarantino plans to make a movie, it is always an event to behold. With "The Hateful Eight," there has been more buzz surrounding this upcoming project than any before.

Going back to earlier in the year, a supposed script of the film leaked out to the website Gawker, causing Tarantino to erupt with rage. After a lawsuit was threatened, cooler heads prevailed and QT decided to drop the lawsuit and move ahead with his newest opus.

The film is an ambitious Western that will be shot in what Tarantino calls "a breathtaking 70MM" that the director is now committed to make with his eye on a 2015 release date. According to The Guardian, the most recent synopsis for "The Hateful Eight" says the film "follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere."

In the way of casting, Tarantino had a staged script reading in Los Angeles back in April that included actresses Amber Tamblyn and Zoe Bell along with the director's regular go-to guy, Samuel L. Jackson. Rumored cast members for the film include Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Walton Goggins and Samuel L Jackson.

The biggest rumor of the day, though, is that Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, who is now shooting "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II," may be interested in the female lead in Tarantino's new film. While the role Lawrence would play is not clearly defined, buzz has been making the rounds on the Internet that the Academy Award winner is circling the role for the auteur. After finishing up "The Hunger Games," Lawrence will re-team with her "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle" director David O. Russell in "Joy," the story of the woman that created the miracle mop.

The Wrap's Jeff Sneider reported, via Twitter, that rumors of Jennifer Lawrence being cast cued her publicist to make a statement about the possibility of the actress working on the film:

Lawrence and Tarantino would be guaranteed box office gold together, but the director is also very secretive about this movie. We'll just wait and see if this rumor pans out.
