'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' gets first official teaser trailer

In the wake of this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, Lionsgate has finally gone ahead and released the first teaser trailer for the first half of the conclusion to the wildly popular "Hunger Games" series.

The film, titled "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1," is again directed by Francis Lawrence. The "Water for Elephants" director will be taking on both of the "Mockingjay" films as the movie studio looks to capitalize on separating the final chapter of the series into two tentpole films. This has become standard practice since the "Harry Potter" franchise did it back in 2010 and 2011 with its final installments.

At just a minute long, the teaser trailer is short on action and instead relies on dialogue to set things up for the epic conclusion. So if you are looking to see some stunning visuals in the trailer, you will have to wait until a longer trailer hits in a few months.

In this short tease, fans are fed dialogue from Plutarch Heavensbee (the late Philip Seymour Hoffman) talking with Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) about Katniss Everdeen's (Jennifer Lawrence) role in the rebellion.

While Plutarch insists, "Listen to me. No one else can do this, but her." The bureaucrat Coin disagrees, "She won't be able to handle it. The games destroyed her."

After that brief exchange, we get various shots of the major players in the film all looking ready for an epic finale to the worldwide phenomenon. Under the leadership of President Coin and the counsel of her inner circle, Katniss attempts to rise from the ashes to save the people of her beloved District 13. With a nation moved by her courage, the future of her people sits squarely on the unlikely hero's shoulders.

The first part of the final chapter in the "Hunger Games" sequel will hit theaters on November 21 of this year with the last installment being released on Thanksgiving 2015.
