'Monster Hunter X' Launches On 3DS In US As 'Monster Hunter Generations' This Summer

After arriving in Japan last year, Monster Hunter X is westward bound and will crossover into North America and Europe this summer. And because "cross" may be the first thing that comes to mind when Americans see the "X" at the end of its name, the game has been rebranded Monster Hunter Generations.

Nintendo confirmed the arrival of the English version of Monster Hunter X during the Nintendo Direct presentation last Thursday. It will come wearing a new style system and feature four new monsters that are begging to be cut down, or X-ed out.

"Monster Hunter Generations is the most customizable Monster Hunter experience to date, and serves as a fitting tribute to the last decade of the series," said Nintendo. The company will share more details about the game soon, including a firm release date.

One of the feat details that were dropped during the presentation was that loyal monster hunters will be rewarded for their past deed.

"Anyone who plays Monster Hunter Generations on a Nintendo 3DS with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate save data present on it, will receive bonus content in the new game," Bill Trinen, from Nintendo of America, said.

For those how haven't put any time into Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Nintendo slashed the price of the game for two days. The 48-hour promotion, which started at 3 p.m. PST (6 p.m. EST) on Thursday, brought the price of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate to $19.99 on the Nintendo eShop.

And rounding out the Monster Hunter news during the Nintendo Direct presentation, Trinen announced a crossover.

"I'm happy to announce that Monster Hunter Generations will feature a special collaboration armor set based on Marth, from the Fire Emblem series," he said.

Monster Hunter X launched in Japan back on Nov. 28, 2015. So, the wait for an English version will be relatively short.

For now, check out the Monster Hunter Generations announcement (at 29:34) below.
