If you’re a gamer looking for some free entertainment the weekend, listen to this deal. Digital distribution platform Steam just made the first-person shooter Borderlands 2 free to play.
On Thursday, August 21, Steam announced the temporary deal, which enables users to play the game for free. And, if a player enjoys the game, he or she can purchase it for 75% off the regular price.
Borderlands 2 was released in 2012 in response to the success of its predecessor, Borderlands. A very basic description of this action-fueled, role-playing game series is that a team of Vault Hunters shoots its way through various extraterrestrial missions.
The Steam platform is required to download and play the game for free.
The ability to play Borderlands 2 for free is in effect from now through Sunday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific. But the 75% off sale runs through Monday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific.
This Borderlands 2 weekend deal is part of a Steam sale on all games by publisher 2K. In addition to both games in the Borderlands series, gamers can also clean up with great deals on Civilization, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and all the games in the BioShock series, just to name a few.
