A render of an alleged Sony smartphone has surfaced prior to the company’s event that is set to happen in Barcelona.
Not much has been revealed about Sony’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) event that takes place on Feb. 22. However, a couple of days before the event, Leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) posted an image of a purported new phone from the Japan-based electronics company.
On a post last Feb. 20, Blass reports that he was tipped that the device is called the Xperia PP10 but clarified that he is not sure on whether it is a code name or retail branding.
Taking a closer look at the render reveals a large rear camera, a curved glass front, what appears to be two front-facing speakers and in a new metal form factor. FRI 05 JUN is displayed. If the device does exist, this could be a clue on when the device will be released to the consumer market. It could also be the announcement date for the phone. Note that nothing has been confirmed and it is still speculated on whether the alleged Xperia PP10 will be announced during the MWC. Regardless of the uncertainties, Blass followed it up with another render that looks like the purported Xperia C6 that got leaked about a month ago.
The alleged C6 is rumored to be a 5.5-inch phone with a 1,080p display. Some went on to speculate that it will have a Mediatek SoC octa-core processor. With the recent release of the Sony’s flagship Xperia Z5, however, both phones are expected to be lined up for the mid-ranged market.
Bear in mind that most of the details discussed are speculative and confirmation about the phone is yet to be released by Sony. Thus, everything in this article should be taken with a grain of salt.
