Legendary fighting game Street Fighter V is launching on Feb. 16 and will be console exclusive on the PlayStation 4.
For the first time, players will be able to enjoy cross-platform gameplay wherein fans will have a centralized player base brought by the partnership between Sony and Capcom in the latest game release.
Apart from the cross-platform gameplay between the PS4 and PC, players will also get to meet new and returning characters in the latest franchise installment of the game. These include Charlie Nash, Birdie, M. Bison, Cammy, Chun-Li and Ryu among others.
There are at least 16 characters that will be available on the launch date. In March, players will have the chance to download Alex, the first character to be available. Players can expect to see new characters to be added every month until September. However, things will be a little different in June because of the release of the game's Cinematic Story Expansion.
"For the first time in franchise history, we are creating a cinematic story experience that takes players deep into the Street Fighter action and mythology through beautifully rendered cutscenes," said PlayStation in its blog post. "The Story Expansion will be available to all players as a free content update, releasing in June 2016. Chronologically in the Street Fighter storyline, it takes place between the events of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, and fully explains everything that transpired in that electrifying time period."
Other additional characters that are slated to be released throughout the year include Urien, Juri, Balrog, Ibuki and Guile.
The latest Street Fighter V is said to feature several modes as well as an online component upon its launch. However, there are some gameplay features that will start becoming available only in March.
First off is the Story mode, which allows players to better understand each fighter including their background and motivations. However, while this mode features an unlockable costume, players will have to wait until March to purchase their prize as this will be the time when the in-game store will be launched.
The next mode that will be available in March is the Challenge Mode which features daily goals, trials and battle tips. This mode will allow players to earn the so-called in-game "fight money" which they can use in purchasing new characters.
All in all, players can expect to find the game's tutorial, Capcom Fighters Network, Network Battle, Training Mode, Survival Mode and Character Story Mode when it releases on Tuesday.
And by simply playing through most of the game's single player content, players will be able to earn fight money which can be used to get Alex for free. In order to get the six characters, premium costumes and the PS4 theme, players can purchase the 2016 Season Pass for the price of $29.99. The preorder download is at $59.99.
