Street Fighter V is right around the corner, and with 16 playable fighters, there is going to be a whole lot of learning to do once the game does finally arrive.
Capcom is looking to make the learning curve a little less steep with a new Street Fighter V character introduction series on YouTube, where community manager Matt Edwards walks players through the various backstories and abilities of the game's diverse cast of characters.
Kicking off the series is Ken. He's been with the franchise since the beginning, and although he is sporting a new look for Street Fighter V, fans will recognize many of his signature moves from previous games.
Ryu is still Ken's best friend and ultimate rival, keeping the American fighter always striving for perfection. His V-skill ability allows him to run across the screen in order to get in close to opponents. Since Ken's ranged attacks aren't nearly as strong as those of some other fighters, once Ken is in close, he'll want to stay there for as long as possible in order to dish out some damage. His V-trigger ability increases his damage and allows for longer combos.
It's a useful video and features plenty of gameplay footage, but it could be a little better about actually showing on screen what Edwards is talking about in the voiceover. For example, when talking about Ken's long recovery time for his fireballs, why not show it so players can get a better understanding? It's a minor quibble about the video, but hopefully, Capcom steps up and makes future installments even more useful for new players looking to break into the franchise.
