BandPage is dedicated to helping artists ramp up their fan bases, revenue and overall careers.
For over a decade, YouTube has been a monster tool for artists to get their music out to the masses.
That's precisely why Friday's announcement of YouTube acquiring BandPage makes so much sense.
"Today we take a big step forward in our mission to create a better future for musicians around the world," BandPage wrote on its blog post to make the announcement. "We are very excited to announce that BandPage is joining YouTube, a move which dramatically accelerates our shared goal of helping musicians everywhere thrive."
Under the partnership, BandPage intends to help artists reach fans in stronger ways than ever before.
"We are extremely excited about this because we believe YouTube truly shares our commitment to musicians," BandPage's blog post added. "YouTube already offers a global distribution platform for any artist to be discovered and some of the best self-publishing tools for musicians and other creators. The team has a lot of things planned to help musicians succeed on the platform, and more broadly across the BandPage network."
Although the terms of the acquisition weren't made public, the deal allows YouTube to entrench itself with artists further and even delve deeper into their good side, considering how much of a musician-friendly, all-encompassing service BandPage has been since its inception six years ago.
Furthermore, it will allow YouTube to engage even more listeners with content from BandPage's 500,000-plus users.
