The third beta release of Apple's tvOS 9.2 update brings a number of new features and is now available to developers.
Apple has released the third beta of its OS meant for the fourth-generation Apple TV just weeks following the release of the second beta of tvOS 9.2. Apple has been testing the said OS since Jan. 11 of this year and has also been steadily adding new features throughout the OS' testing process.
On its third beta release, Apple adds several features that seem quite useful to users.
The first useful feature is the so-called dictation support which now allows Apple TV users to dictate text instead of typing. They can also dictate or spell out user names and passwords, which could make the login process a whole lot faster and easier. The new dictation feature can also be either enabled or disabled according to the users' needs.
The ability to dictate passwords can be very useful when one is using a long and quite "weird password" with a number of special characters. Hopefully, the device will be able to recognize those special characters that are being dictated.
The third beta release of tvOS 9.2 also brings Siri support for App Store search. This means that users will now be able to search apps easily from the App Store through the enhanced app discovery process brought by the update. Users can simply ask Siri when they are searching for an app or when they are looking for an app category and an app listing.
In the past, users would search for apps by doing text-based searches.
The latest beta release also brings iCloud Photo Library and Live Photos support. With this feature, users can group their apps into folders and view them on the Home screen similar to iOS devices. Other features to expect include MapKit for developers and a redesigned App Switcher interface.
The tvOS 9.2 third beta release also adds notable improvements to the Apple TV. These include Conference Room Display Mode, Bluetooth keyboard support and native Podcasts app.
The latest OS update has build number 13Y5198c and it is now available to those who have already installed the second beta release of tvOS 9.2.
