Apple TV users will now be able to stream content created across the pond. RLJ Entertainment announced on Thursday that its North American streaming service dedicated to British and international content, Acorn TV, is now available on Apple TV.
Since its launch in 2011, Acorn TV has been making its name as the go-to streaming platform for fans of British television series such as Eleventh Hour, starring Patrick Stewart, and the BBC mystery series Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime.
Now, audiences will be able to access these series on more devices with the launch on Apple TV, as well as on their iPhones and iPads with the newly-updated iOS app — which were both developed by the team that created the live concert video app Qello Concerts.
"We're excited for the millions of Apple TV owners to now have easy access to the deep library of curated, high-quality international programs on Acorn TV. It's been a pleasure working with Qello to design cutting-edge apps that look fantastic, work flawlessly, and will help our users discover shows they'll love. Qello's deep knowledge and experience in the OTT SVOD space has added much more value than any standard technology services provider," Acorn TV's general manager Matthew Graham said in a statement.
The British television streaming service releases new titles every week, giving U.S. audiences the ability to stream their favorite series that don't air live here, as well discover new content. Acorn TV has a library that consists of mysteries, dramas, documentaries and comedies that have no set end dates.
