Microsoft has teamed up with Italian jeweller Damiani and created a diamond encrusted Lumia 950, which is worth $2,150.
Microsoft launched the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL in October 2015 and the devices are the first to come running on Windows 10 Mobile. The Lumia 950 has impressed many smartphone lovers and now a customized and pricey version of the phone may catch the eyes of some wealthy mobile phone enthusiasts.
"The collaboration with Damiani is the celebration of excellence, creativity and design, Damiani jewelry and Microsoft technology," says Carlo Purassanta, the CEO of Microsoft Italy.
The limited edition customized model of the Lumia 950 is available in two versions. One of the variants will have a black leather case with a white gold ring around the camera lens and the other will be available in white leather back with a rose gold ring around the camera lens. The gold ring in both the versions of the exclusive Lumia 950 will include 10 brilliant cut diamonds.
"We are so particularly proud to offer our customers a phone that has the ability to turn into a jewel for life as well an after sales service dedicated to our partner for clients that buy the smartphone," says Giorgio Damiani, VP of the Damiani Group.
The customized Lumia 950 will be available at the jeweller's Milan and Rome boutiques at a retail price of 1,950 Euros or about $2,135. Damiani boutiques in other cities are also expected to get the limited edition of the Lumia 950. Microsoft Store (Italy) is selling the regular version of the Lumia 950 for 599 Euros or about $669, which is quite cheap when compared to Damiani's limited edition Lumia 950.
Customers can use their Lumia 950 with the novel leather cases as long as they wish but they also have the option to return the cover and exchange it for a pendant from the D.Side collection.
The Lumia 950 has a 5.2-inch display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution and 565ppi. The smartphone comes running on 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3 GB of RAM. The device has 32 GB of internal storage and the option to expand the memory to a further 200 GB with a microSD card.
The handset is equipped with a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The Lumia 950 has a 3,000mAh battery that supports USB Type C charging, which allows users to get 50 percent of the battery charge in just 30 minutes.
The hardware specs of the customized Lumia 950 will be the same as regular version.
