TappLock Smart Padlock Opens With A Fingerprint Sensor

Lock it and throw away the key. Well ... there is no key.

Dubbed as the "world's smartest padlocks" by its makers, the TappLock series of padlocks don't require a key, combination code or phone to access them. Instead, they rely on an encrypted fingerprint sensor, allowing the padlocks to tap and open in 0.8 seconds.

Available in the bulkier TappLock and slimmer TappLock Lite editions, the smart padlocks double as a cell phone charger with a slot conveniently located on the bottom of the product.

The minds behind the smart padlocks also thought of the occasions that you might need to share and grant access to the lock to a family member or friend.

With an accompanying app, which is compatible with iOS, Windows and Android smartphones, users can share and grant access to the TappLock with a couple of clicks.

Say you're on vacation and left your bicycle for your friend to use. Not only can you grant him or her access via the accompanying app from anywhere in the world, but you can also customize the duration for which the person has access to the lock. Revoking access is just as easy.

Altogether, the app can store up to 100 fingerprints.

The smart padlock even touts a built-in alarm that will blare if it's cut or if someone not authorized attempts to use his or her fingerprint to open it.

An early bird pledge of $145 on the company's Indiegogo page will allow you to preorder a family pack, which consists of two TappLocks and two TappLock Lites.
