Gamescom - DayZ coming to PlayStation 4: What about Xbox One?

While Microsoft managed to snag Rise of the Tomb Raider for itself, Sony did a similar thing when the company announced that popular PC zombie game, DayZ, will be coming to the PlayStation 4. However, we doubt it is exclusive since creator Dean Hall in recent times mentioned that the game will be ported to each console platform.

DayZ being announced at Sony's Gamescom press conference could mean the game will run at 1080p on the PlayStation 4, and a lower resolution on the Xbox One. It would be a surprise if things turned out this way, because since both game consoles launched in 2013, the PlayStation 4 has proven to be the best place to play third-party titles.

After Sony announced Hall to the stage to talk about his game, we half expected him to showcase what the title looks like on consoles. Unfortunately, that did not happen, and it is appearing as if first footages of DayZ on the PlayStation 4 might show up in 2015, or near to the end of 2014.

DayZ began its life on PC via Steam's Early Access service. It has proven to be quite popular, despite being an unfinished game that is being plagued by bugs and other issues relating to the core gameplay elements.

We've given DayZ a spin on, and we can confirm that it is a great game despite its faults. The game is not for everyone since the basic commodities to stay alive are in short supply. For example, water is one of the most hard to find supplies in the game, and the same thing can be said for ammunition.

Another aspect of DayZ that might be a turn off for some gamers is how easy it is to die, and the fact that one doesn't auto-heal after getting wounded. If a player is wounded in DayZ, they will be required to find medical supplies to patch themselves up. Failure to do so, means the player will eventually bleed to death.

Furthermore, unlike most zombie games bite and hit hard. Just a few hits or bites from a zombie and the player on the wrong end of the stick might have to call it night as death looms.

It will be interesting to see if these gameplay aspects make it over to the PlayStation 4, or will they be removed to make for an easier game for console players.
