Nintendo confirmed the upcoming Wii U remastered re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will include amiibo functionally in a new trailer released Jan. 21.
The trailer reveals the various functionalities of the Zelda's toy-to-life characters, including the Wolf Link, Link and Toon, Ganondorf, and Princess Zelda and Shiek amigos, while showcasing the gameplay.
Tapping the Wolf Link amiibo will unlock a new area called the "Cave of Shadow," which includes a brand-new series of challenges where the Wolf Link and Midna's abilities are used to battle enemies. This confirms recent reports of the toy-to-life capabilities that were first leaked by Amazon.
After the Cave of Shadow challenges are complete, the player can save their remaining hearts to the amiibo to go back and try to beat their previous high score.
The video also reveals the Link and Toon amiibo restores arrows, whereas the Ganondorf character will allow Link to take extra damage to make the game a bit more difficult, and the Princess Zelda and Sheik amiibo will restore hearts.
Nintendo also adds that the Wolf Link amiibo will also function with the next Legends of Zelda game that is expected to be released for Wii U later this year.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will be released on the Wii U on March 4, and comes with the Wolf Link and Midna amiibo. Check out the amiibo trailer below.
