The newest "Suicide Squad" trailer is expected to air on The CW come Tuesday, Jan. 19. Big movie studio Warner Bros. is taking advantage of the popularity of its DC comic book TV series to market its comic book movies.
What is it should we expect from the second "Suicide Squad" trailer? The first one didn't give much away. We got to see The Joker causing mayhem and torturing Harleen Quinzel before she became Harley Quinn. We got to see the close-up shots of the team and they looked great.
Amanda Waller was there as well; the second time the character has made it to the big screen. She first popped up in the failed DC movie "Green Lantern," but this version that is played by Viola Davis appears to be the real deal.
We expect to see her in the second trailer putting the group together. We also expect her to be hard talking and to the point, as well as with fearless to the villains she's sending out there to save the world.
As for The Joker, well, we doubt he'll be in the trailer doing anything of significance. His scenes should be awesome, but since the movie is called "Suicide Squad," after all, we believe the trailer will focus more on the team and what the individual team members are capable of, rather than The Joker laughing and slaughtering people.
The first trailer did not give us an idea of who the villain is, and that was a problem for some folks. However, the second trailer should, and according to what many folks are saying, the villain could be Enchantress, so we are looking forward to learning more about her and how she plans on going about her business as an entity the "Suicide Squad" must take down.
We've heard rumors that The Joker is the villain, but that doesn't make much sense to us because the Clown Prince of Crime has never been a threat to the whole world. Should folks re-watch the first trailer, Will Smith as Deadshot stated that the team must prepare themselves to save the world.
The second trailer should show us what the world needs saving from. It can't be just Enchantress by herself; she needs to have some minions on the ground laying waste to civilians and government security forces.
At the end of the day, director David Ayer and his team will want to learn from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" when it comes down to marketing. So far, the team has been doing a better job in terms of what is released to the public's domain.
The director released a poster art of the "Suicide Squad" and its villains. What's interesting about this poster is how different it is when compared to other comic book movie posters. It is not overdone with Photoshop, it just appears as if David Ayer got a fan to do the art instead of some hired talent within Hollywood.
The art shows all the important characters, but as expected, The Joker stands out. His smile is designed to look similar to that of Batman's logo, and a tear of blood is running from his right eye.
It's a good look, and we can't wait to see more come Tuesday night.
