Who Is Rey? J.J. Abrams Knows, But Won't Tell You

True blue "Star Wars" fans are dying to find out more about Rey's real identity. And they'll have to be haunted with the mystery for the next two years.

For J.J. Abrams, however, that mystery has already been solved.

Apparently, the film director claims he knows a bit about Rey based on the script of the next "Star Wars" movie which purportedly contains some information on Rey's lineage.

"Obviously it's not for me to talk about in this moment because this is Rian [Johnson]'s story to continue now," said Abrams. "The last thing I'm going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about. I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy he had showed me."

According to the official "Star Wars" site, Rey is a scavenger in Jakku and also a survivor whose character was made strong by the harsh desert planet.

"When the fugitive droid BB-8 appeals to her for help, Rey finds herself drawn into a galaxy-spanning conflict," said Star Wars. "Despite dismissing herself as 'no one,' she learns that her life is being shaped by the mysterious power of the Force."

Fans have persistently been asking how Rey was brought into such type of world. "Star Wars" aficionados have also speculated that she could be a descendant from a family of power (based on her accent), the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leila, the daughter of Luke Skywalker, or the granddaughter of Obi-Wan.

Perhaps one interesting detail about Rey that could just be the best place to start with all of these scrutinies is that she is also Force-sensitive. This means that she was actually one of the two children that were sent to train together with Luke Skywalker, and Kylo Ren is the other one.

Kylo Ren's parents are already known to fans. In terms of Rey's parents, however, it is something that fans should watch out for in the film's upcoming 8th episode.

Two years may seem an impossible wait but it will surely be worth it in the end.

J.J. Abrams is even willing to keep everything as a secret, something that not everyone else may find easy to do because of the length of time involved.

"My enthusiasm for 'Episode VIII' is enormous," said Abrams. "I'm very much excited for and very jealous of anyone, especially Rian, who gets to work so closely with this extraordinary cast and crew, truly an amazing group. In that regard for sure, but I'm also relieved to have gotten a chance to do a Star Wars movie."
