American Horror Story: Hotel returned last night on FX after a two-week hiatus for the holidays — and it did not disappoint.
We last left off with Liz Taylor (Denis O'Hare) and Iris (Kathy Bates) barging into the Countess' room guns blazing. In last night's episode, we returned to this very scene to see the fates of the Countess (Lady Gaga) and Donovan (Matt Bomer).
The episode was graphic, gruesome and gut-wrenching — everything we expect from the horror series.
However, what we all tuned in for was to see the finale showdown between the Countess and Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett). Things took a very surprising turn during and after their face-to-face, leaving our jaws to drop with a single ding of the elevator. If we know anything about this season, it's that residents can never check out of the hotel.
Of course, murder is common when inside the Hotel Cortez, especially with Mr. March (Evan Peters) pulling the strings. We see this with Sally's (Sarah Paulson) mission and how Detective John Lowe (Wes Bentley) finally got his last body part needed for the collection.
It appears that the amount of murders occurring at the hotel is becoming a bit out of hand. In the promo for next week's season finale, titled "Be Our Guest," Iris becomes worried that guests will stop coming to stay at the hotel after the spirits go on an all-out killing spree. This grabs the attention of both the police and potential new guests, who hear that the word is the hotel is haunted.
Even Mr. March demands that the killings must stop, which is saying a lot coming from the notoriously twisted serial killer.
However, this is the Hotel Cortez we are talking about, so it just may be that the bloodshed will never really come to an end. Do they really think that that faceless, creepy monster will let them all walk away? Find out when the story comes to a close next week.
