Halo: Reach, released for the Xbox 360 back in 2010, was brought to the Xbox One earlier in December through the new backward compatibility feature of the console. The game was one of the highly anticipated titles included in the Xbox 360 games being ported to the Xbox One, but unfortunately, gamers are experiencing a variety of issues with it.
Numerous threads in online forums such as the Halo Waypoint and Reddit have popped up regarding the issues.
"It's unplayable! I'm getting 10-20 fps whereas my 360 runs it at a smooth 25-30 fps," wrote one user in a Halo Waypoint thread. This issue is echoed by many other users in the thread and in other posts online.
"Frame rate dips down to about 10 fps when there are a lot of enemies on the screen," wrote a user on Reddit, adding that while the game does not stutter, the game speed slows down considerably.
Another Reddit user mentioned that he was getting sound issues, with another user stating that the sound of the game gets distorted after every 2 seconds, leading to all sounds getting slowed down and eventually distorted.
Another thread on Halo Waypoint had the opening post discussing multiplayer issues with Halo: Reach on the Xbox One, with the user claiming that upon entering the multiplayer mode for the game, it says that he is not connected to Xbox Live. Other users said that they too were experiencing the problem.
In addition, the achievements that the user has accumulated in Halo: Reach are not appearing on the Xbox One. A hard reset and the reinstallation of the game did not fix the problems reported, the user stated.
Emulation processes could undergo improvements over time, making it possible for the performance of Halo: Reach on the Xbox One to get better in the future. However, for fans of the franchise that were excited to re-play the title on their Xbox One consoles, the issues are a massive letdown.
