Who topped the list of most-streamed Christmas songs this 2015 holiday season?
Here's a rundown of the top 10 holiday songs on digital streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music, according to industry chart-leader Billboard. We're counting down backwards to build the suspense — can you guess who is number one?
Coming in at number 10 is young songstress Ariana Grande, one of the latest generation of pop divas, with "Santa Tell Me," the R&B-influenced Christmas track she first released as a single during the 2014 holiday season. It looks as if Grande may have a future Christmas classic on her hands, but only time will tell.
At number nine is a perennial Christmas favorite, Burl Ives' "It's A Holly Jolly Christmas."
Crooner Micheal Buble is one of the most successful male solo singers of the millennium, but he sings in the style of rat packers like Frank Sinatra, and his take on "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" comes in at number eight.
Another blast from the past, Bobby Helm's "Jingle Bell Rock" is number seven, while "Last Christmas," the huge 1984 hit from UK pop duo Wham, which of course features George Michael on vocals, comes in at number six. Interestingly, the song, which has been covered by numerous pop artists since its initial release, also served as the lead single off Ariana Grande's 2013 Christmas EP "Christmas Kisses," from which "Santa Tell Me" also originates.
Another Christmas classic, Gene Autry's "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," takes the number five position, no doubt buoyed by holiday-viewing of the classic TV special, which is just as popular as the song.
Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You)," a huge holiday staple, comes in at number four, while Pentatonix, the popular a capella group that topped the Billboard charts with its self-titled new album in 2015, takes the number three spot with its rendition of "Mary, Did You Know?"
An upbeat Christmas favorite, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee, rocks the number two position this year.
That leaves us with just one song left, the top streaming holiday song of 2015. Did you guess what it is?
Of course, it's legendary diva Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You." The modern-day classic, released in 1994, is only growing more popular each year. This year, in addition to topping the Billboard holiday streaming chart as well as the regular holiday chart, which includes sales and radio airplay, the track reached number 18, its highest position ever on Billboard's Hot 100.
