'Bob's Burgers' Celebrates Christmas With Song All About Liquor

The folks behind the animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers have a habit of including musical numbers in their episodes. They range in topic and length from a fantastical song about farts that only lasts a few moments to an opera of sorts about an elephant getting electrocuted.

The latest tune from the show is all about the holidays — and also liquor.

“The Spirits of Christmas” is an extended version of the song sung by the Belchers' landlord, Calvin Fischoeder (voiced by Kevin Kline), in “Nice-Capades”, the recent Christmas-themed episode. After unintentionally being rude to a mall Santa voiced by Henry Winkler, the kids, Gene, Tina and Louise, put on a musical on ice in order to convince said mall Santa that they’ve been good this year and deserve presents. They want to make sure that he reports back to the real Santa about their activities.

Mr. Fischoeder comes in because he has a small stake in the company that owns the mall, and his one demand is that he and his brother, Felix, be able to perform. However, when it comes time to actually sing, Calvin launches into a booze-filled tune where the word “bourbon” appears a shocking number of times. What’s perhaps more surprising is the fact that it’s rather catchy despite the subject matter.

Best of all? They’ve even made the sheet music to the song available to download so that anyone looking to make a cover can do so easily. Here’s hoping that this is just the first in a long line of official Bob’s Burgers sheet music. Maybe, just maybe, that official soundtrack will even become a reality in 2016.
