The largest member of the Samsung Galaxy A-series has already arrived. And the Samsung Galaxy A9 brings with it a sleek design and impressive specs.
Samsung's announcement was made during the Galaxy A Party 2016 event held in China.
Under The Hood
As was already leaked in previous rumors, the Galaxy A9 rocks a remarkable 6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1,920 x 1,090 resolution. It likewise boasts 2.5D curved glass.
This brand new phone is powered by 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 652 clocked at 1.8GHz.
The A9 houses a 3GB RAM alongside 32GB of storage. The storage can be expanded up to 128GB through the dedicated microSD card.
It also has a physical home button with a built-in fingerprint sensor.
Users will also be delighted with its 13-megapixel main snapper at the back and 8-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies. The primary camera has OIS and f/1.9 aperture.
It is worth noting that it comes with a massive 4,000 mAh battery despite its slim all-metal body.
Unfortunately, the handset comes with Android 5.1.1 with TouchWiz out of the box. The phone is said to perfectly work with Samsung's mobile payment service, Samsung Pay.
Design
Design-wise, it looks akin to its siblings A3, A5 or A7, but bigger. The profile is also quite slim at 7.4 mm, with Samsung adding only 0.1 mm to the thickness of the three smaller members of the family. Compared to the iPhone 6s Plus, the A9 is 2 mm wider.
Additionally, the handset has a glass front panel and metal sculpted edges.
Release Date and Price
Before anyone gets their hopes up, the A9 will initially go on sale only in China later within the month. Samsung has yet to release its official word as to when it plans to launch the device in other countries.
Furthermore, the price of this handset has not yet been disclosed, though it is presumed it will have a smaller price tag than the flagship Galaxy S series. At any rate, it is anticipated that it will take the midrange market by storm when it arrives.
In the meantime, this is not all Samsung is putting to the table. Alongside the unveiling of A9, it also showcased the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 during the event.
Meanwhile, we earlier reported that Samsung is going to unveil its Galaxy S7 in March next year. It is said to have a 3D Touch-like pressure-sensitive display, fast charging and with a retina scanner.
