OnePlus 2 OxygenOS 2.2.0 Rolling Out Now: Bug Fixes, Security Patches, And Holiday Wallpapers

Own a OnePlus 2 smartphone? Then you're in luck as OnePlus is pushing out the latest OxygenOS 2.2.0 software update for the smartphone now.

OxygenOS 2.2.0 is a modified version of Android and the software update is an over-the-air (OTA) one that will make its way to OnePlus 2 users in phases. It brings several bug fixes, holiday wallpapers to spread some cheer, and security patches OnePlus 2 users' way.

China-based OEM OnePlus made the announcement that it has started pushing out the software update on Monday, Dec. 21.

"Hi everyone! We've started rolling out OxygenOS 2.2.0 on the OnePlus 2," noted the company in a post on its forum.

Earlier in November, we reported that OnePlus pushed out the OxygenOS 2.1.2 software update for its OnePlus 2 users.

The software update brought improvements to the device, including an improved camera, support for Russian and Turkish languages, the option of changing one's wallpaper on the lock screen, security patches, general bug fixes, and performance improvements.

The update also brought fixes for pictures that were clicked in the RAW format through third-party camera applications. OnePlus also let on that the users of the Camera FV-5 app would soon get an update, which would support the RAW format on the smartphone post the update's roll out.

The latest OxygenOS 2.2.0 software update for the OnePlus 2 brings with it bug fixes and security patches. The update also has a fix for the bug related to the panorama option in the Google Camera app, as well as photo sphere.

For the unfamiliar, post a previous update to the OxygenOS, several OnePlus 2 users complained of their camera not functioning properly when the flash was on. The screen would frequently go blank and the photo would not be taken. In some instances, if the photo was clicked, the device would get locked automatically, leading to the user unlocking their smartphone and locating the image in the gallery. This issue was rampant with third-party camera apps specially the Google Camera app. However, the current update from OnePlus resolves the problem.

The OxygenOS 2.2.0 update also fixes the dual-SIM preference selection issue in the settings which were plaguing users. Users were having trouble swapping between two SIM cards with ease. Moreover, the phone would not reflect the carrier network in the notifications bar. The latest update also resolves this issue.

The changelog from OnePlus also reveals that OnePlus 2 users will be able to revel in some holiday spirit thanks to some Holiday wallpapers the update brings users' way. The OxygenOS 2.2.0 update also brings security patches, optimizations, and bug fixes. Users will also have the ability to hide the search bar option in the launcher settings. OnePlus 2 users will also have the option to adjust the device's screen temperature from quick settings directly. The update also adds exFAT and NTFS support for OTG.

For those wondering if the current software update for the OnePlus 2 resolves the issue users were facing with an unresponsive fingerprint scanner/home button key, it is not clear. It is likely that OnePlus will address this problem in a different update.

Since the OxygenOS 2.2.0 update is being pushed out gradually, OnePlus 2 users will get the OTA update in time and need to exercise patience. You can manually check for updates to see if you have received the OxygenOS 2.2.0.

It is not known when OnePlus will push out OxygenOS 2.2.0 for the OnePlus X.
