OnePlus 2 customers will not have to wait for an invite for purchasing the handset from Dec. 5 onwards.
The OnePlus 2 is the second-generation smartphone developed by Chinese manufacturer OnePlus. The popularity of the first-generation OnePlus One led to high demand for the mobile device's successor.
Even though the hardware specs and features of the OnePlus 2 appealed to many smartphone enthusiasts and tech gurus alike, the invite system to buy the phone was a disappointment to many customers.
The OnePlus 2 was revealed in July this year and it made its way to customers starting August. It was not simple for interested buyers to purchase the phone. Customers had to go via the invite-only purchase system, which made it very challenging to get hold of the mobile device.
Customers had to sign up on the company's website and then wait for OnePlus to send an invitation to buy the handset, which left customers in the dark about when to expect the phone. Some customers have also complained about the invite system to buy the OnePlus 2.
"I guess all the hate comes from the fact that you have to be invited to buy the phone," a Reddit user said.
However, OnePlus has now announced that the OnePlus 2 will be invite free forever.
"You'll never again need an invite to purchase the OnePlus 2. We're proud to be able to make the OnePlus 2 invite-free so soon and hope this will make getting your very own OnePlus 2 a cheerfully easy experience," per a OnePlus forum announcement.
OnePlus also announced that the OnePlus X will also be invite-free starting at midnight on Dec. 5 through to Dec. 7.
As OnePlus has removed the barrier of the invite system, customers can buy the OnePlus 2 without any hassle. However, customers will hope that the company will keep up with the timely delivery of new orders.
OnePlus also confirms on its forum that customers who order for a OnePlus device or accessories by Dec. 7 will receive it in time for the holidays, "guaranteed."
