Samsung has taken the wraps off a new microSD card which will be welcomed by users who like using their smartphone for storing media.
Dubbed the PRO Plus microSD, the memory card has a capacity of 128 GB and is looking to raise the bar with its massive storage space and swift transfer rates.
The company said that what prompted it to offer a memory card with powerful storage capabilities and fast speeds of transfer is the increase in 4K UHD playback and recording.
"The introduction of our PRO Plus 128 GB microSD delivers on Samsung's commitment to create best-in-class memory cards that meet the rapidly evolving needs of today's consumers, as well as strengthens our leadership in branded memory products," noted Samsung's SVP of Branded Product Marketing Un-Soo Kim.
The company claims that 128 GB PRO Plus microSD card will offer high speeds and is a new standard for cutting-edge multi-media memory storage solutions, deploying the MLC NAND flash technology.
The PRO Plus card is supposedly capable of read rates of 95 MB per second and write speed of 90 MB per second.
What's more, Samsung's new memory card is not only able to store data from smartphones and cameras, including DSLRs that have 4K capabilities, but also from drones. It's also capable of storing "heavy-loaded, high-resolution video, photography and multimedia contents for use in today's mobile devices."
The memory card has the ability to record 4K UHD video for a maximum of three hours plus 50 minutes, which is equivalent to recording Full HD videos that are 16 hours and 20 minutes long at the most. For photography and music junkies, good news because it's also capable of storing 10,940 photographs, equivalent to 30,670 songs.
Samsung's microSD card is the perfect solution for users who look for options that can store 4K UHD video content. Another plus in favor of the Samsung PRO Plus microSD card is that it is water resistant — IPX7 certified. It is also protected against X-ray, temperature fluctuations and magnetic forces.
The PRO Plus 128 GB microSD card comes with a 10-year warranty and will set consumers back by $199.99 per reports.
