Earlier this month, the latest Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S models rolled out, and the manufacturing company recently showcased Porsche 911 Turbo in a video.
Significant engine power and shockingly low consumption is what the 3.8 liter twin-turbo engine that sits inside both coupes provides. Take a look at the video below to see exactly what state-of-the-art technology Porsche equipped in the new 911 Turbo, aside from the 3.8 liter twin-turbo engine.
A tiny spoiler: overhead intercoolers and variable turbine geometry are additional technologies that the video trailer boasts with.
The Stuttgart-based auto manufacturer equipped the default variant of 911 Turbo with 540 HP, which launches the car from 0 to 62 miles per hour in about 3.0 seconds. For those of you planning to take it for a spin on the Autobahn, Porsche engineers managed to give it a top speed of only 198 miles per hour.
If you are unsatisfied with those specs, maybe the Porsche 911 Turbo S is the model that your heart and accelerometer desires. The feistier variant of the 911 Turbo packs no less than 580 horsepower, which means that it can take you from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds. With its 205 miles per hour top speed, it will put to shame many rival sports vehicles.
Some buyers might prefer the cabriolet version instead of the coupe and the car manufacturer has them covered as well. A convertible Turbo S can be yours for $200,400. If you think this is pricey, or if the Christmas shopping already drained your credit card, you may settle for a $159,200 Porsche 911 Turbo.
Following concerns that turbocharged variants of Porsche 911 will lose the roaring nature that gives them a special place in fans' hearts, Car Magazine asked someone familiar with the matter.
Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, new-product chief at Volkswagen and board member at a group level for powertrain development, reassured fans of the evergreen sports car that their worries are unfounded.
"You won't miss character with turbos, I promise," Neusser declared.
You may judge whether Neusser was right or not by watching the trailer. Or, better yet: close your eyes, listen to the purring beast and see if you can spot any difference from previous Porsche models.
