In 'Dying Light: The Following' Story Trailer, Kyle Crane Finds A Way Out Of Harran

Now that gamers are only a few months away from the release of The Following, the next big expansion for zombie survival parkour adventure game Dying Light, developer Techland finally released some more details about the game's story.

A new story teaser trailer reveals how Kyle Crane learns more about not just the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, but also the end, and reveals a way out of Harran, so that he can perhaps finally find out exactly what's going on.

The new story takes place shortly after events at the end of Dying Light that left Crane stranded in Harran and doing what it takes to stay stocked up on Antizin, the drug that helps keep the zombie virus at bay in those infected.

The trailer begins with a quote from Frankenstein, suggesting that the zombie virus is man-made.

In the trailer, a very sick man mumbles about things like a group of people who don't get infected by the virus (up until now, anyone suffering from a zombie bite gets the virus). This sick man also holds a map, which Crane believes holds the key of getting out of Harran, which is currently on lockdown.

Previous details about the plot of The Following have Crane in a massive new area, larger than the maps of the base game alone. Crane must travel to this dangerous outback and not just deal with hordes of zombies, but also a fanatical group that may have ties to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse.

"Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following, so I was a bit nervous," said game producer Tymon Smektała in a press statement. "But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we've hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us."

Dying Light released in January earlier this year. In the game, players take on the role of Crane, who must survive the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. However, Crane gets bitten and depends on the drug Antizin to keep him from succumbing to the virus. That means going out into the zombie-infested world and collecting Antizin from dead drops and other sources so that he, and his fellow survivors, can live.

The Following expansion releases for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Feb. 9 for $19.99 as a digital download and as part of the Dying Light Season Pass and the Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition.
