Nintendo Announces Amiibo For Final Fantasy’s Cloud Strife, Street Fighter’s Ryu And Four Other Characters

Nintendo just unveiled the final lineup of characters that'll arrive to the latest Super Smash Bros., including Corrin of Fire Emblem Fates, Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy VII, and Bayonetta the witch, which means that new Amiibo interactive toys are going to hit the shelves soon enough.

To top them off, Ryu of Street Fighter, Roy of Fire Emblem and R.O.B. the robot are also getting their own figures on March 18, 2016. The other Amiibo characters don't have a release date yet, but they have been confirmed to be under development.

As for availability, Roy, Ryu plus the Suzaku Castle stage and Cloud along with the Midgar stage are already up for download. Meanwhile, Corrin and Bayonetta are coming soon sometime in February 2016.

In the United States alone, Nintendo has already sold about 11 million Amiibo figures to date. With the upcoming statues of popular video game characters, the company should be on easy street in 2016, with Cloud and Ryu headlining the show. All in all, there are more than 70 Amiibo characters in total now.

In similar news, Nintendo also revealed more costume DLC, including a Chocobo Hat from Final Fantasy, Geno from Super Mario RPG, a Bionic Armor, Takamaru, Ashley from Wario Ware, Gil from "Tower of Druaga," and Tails and Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Nintendo has also disclosed statistics to highlight how much the content of the action-packed title has developed over the years, counting 58 fighters, 84 Wii U and Nintendo 3DS stages, 99 pieces of Mii Fighter outfits with 97 hats, 507 music tracks and 743 Wii U and 707 Nintendo 3DS trophies.

Considering the characters and massive content, it seems that the success of Super Smash Bros. will continue on to 2016 well.
