Pebble Time Gets Firmware Update, Adds New Timeline User Interface And Removes Eight-App Storage Limit

Pebble seems keen on stepping up its game in the smartwatch market.

The wearable device maker rolled out the latest software, version 3.8, on Tuesday, bringing in new perks.

First, the updated software offers a new Timeline User Interface to both Pebble Steel and Pebble Classic. The Timeline UI of these smartwatches now looks akin to the UI of the newer wearables.

Also, with the new software onboard, users of the Pebble Time Round and Time Steel can now benefit from a new feature touting fitness capabilities: Pebble Health.

It is worth noting, though, that users of these older models who are not going to take advantage of Pebble Health can work with existing apps from Jawbone and Misfit. The good news is that there will no longer be an eight-app limit for the onboard storage.

Apart from tracking the user's daily activity, the new app also has the capacity to track your sleep.

"Since you are your best motivator, Pebble Health focuses on personal success," says Pebble. "Instead of striving for an arbitrary step count, your daily progress is measured against your own personal average."

What's great with Pebble Health is that it perfectly works with Google Fit and Apple HealthKit.

Other Enhancements

This is not all Pebble is putting on the table. It has also packed in more improvements, including:

• Enhancements to Music Control
• Improvements to Facebook Messenger notifications
• Support for more languages, including German, French, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese (to select your preferred language, head over to Settings, then look for Watch Language)
• Easy search for notification settings, Pebble Appstore and apps right from the home screen

How To Get The New Features

To get these benefits, it is necessary to install the latest software version and updated Pebble app first. Make sure to use the correct menu in the application for Android or iOS.

Pebble Health was developed in partnership with experts from Stanford University.
