Business social networking service LinkedIn has given a facelift to its mobile app, which is more visual now.
LinkedIn was founded in Dec. 2002 and started its services from May 2003. Since its release, LinkedIn has attracted many people for professional networking. LinkedIn now has millions of users and is available in many countries across the globe. The U.S. has the highest number of LinkedIn users followed by India and Brazil in the second and third place, respectively.
To attract more and more customers LinkedIn is also available in 20 languages, which include English, German, French, Japanese, Russian, Indonesian, Turkish, Korean, Danish and many more. The success of LinkedIn had prompted the company to go public and it filed documents for its initial public release in Jan. 2011 and started trading from May 2011.
The latest update to the app will make it more visually appealing to users. The redesigned app lets a user to put their career highlights at the forefront, which makes it easier for a viewer to get a quick glance of a person's profile.
"Your LinkedIn Profile is your professional identity of record. It's also the heart of LinkedIn. Your new profile helps you tell your story to other professionals when they're looking for you on the go. If you aren't a master storyteller, we'll let you know what's missing and how you can add it," says Charlton Soesanto, mobile product manager at LinkedIn.
LinkedIn claims that it is now easier for a member to change the details appearing on their own page. When a member is viewing their own page then LinkedIn also gives tips on how to make a profile more discoverable. LinkedIn also highlights any missing information on the profile. A user will receive a notification each time someone views their LinkedIn profile.
Many people have started using mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to access their LinkedIn profile. The company claims that around 43 percent of visits to its service are from mobile devices. Keeping this in view, the company has initially launched the new profile experience for mobile devices. LinkedIn aims at simplifying the way mobile app for its services. However, the company may soon update the web version of its service as well.
The LinkedIn app is available as a free download from Apple App store and from Google Play store.
