A match made by Algorridim, djay Pro is now available for iPad Pro and other Apple tablets too. There's going to be a lot of split-screen and touch interaction going on in this relationship.
The djay audio mixing app for pros and for the curious first arrived on mobile devices, where touch is everything. But it had to lose the touch controls when it went pro on the Mac.
But on the iPad, especially the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it delivers the best of both worlds. The djay Pro can easily accommodate the preference to use keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks through the Smart Keyboard support.
"Built exclusively for iPad, djay Pro provides a complete toolkit for performing DJs – Raw Power, 100 percent Pro," says Algoriddim. "Pristine sound quality and a powerful set of features including high-definition waveforms, four decks, and video mixing give you endless creative flexibility to take your sets to new heights."
What sets the iPad version of djay apart from other mobile devices is the ability to dual-stream 4K video at 60 frames per second. It also features the ability to mix up to four audio channels.
The touch support functions within an innovative and modern interface that lets users pinch, pull, tap, hold and swipe those songs, waveforms, sliders, cue points and so on.
For those interested in whichever version of djay, but are a tad intimated by it, there's How to DJ on Your iPad (& iPhone), a new book about how to use the app and how to become a solid DJ in general.
Written by Phil Morse, the book covers the different aspects of DJing, such as building unique music choices, getting and handling bookings, managing composure before a gig and even what to do after the first public set. Basically, it claims to cover everything about being a DJ, be it professionally or as a hobby.
