Pepsi wants to bring back its crystal-clear soft drink Crystal Pepsi.
The company says it is going to re-release Crystal Clear, which became popular way back in the 1990s, but for a limited time only.
To grab a six-pack of this transparent soda, fans must join a contest that will be held on Dec. 10 through 11 via the Pepsi Pass application. Thirteen thousand winners will get the chance to win six packs of 16 oz. bottles of Crystal Pepsi.
Crystal Pepsi was first launched back in 1992. It was pulled from the market, though, in 1994. Despite pulling out the product, it gained loyal followers. In fact, fanatics even campaigned for several years in hopes that Pepsi will bring back to stores. It seems that the long wait is over — well, at least nearly over.
Pepsi has released a video ad featuring a janitor who discovers that a floor in his office building is still living in the '90s, the time Crystal Pepsi became a hit. The video ad focuses on the re-release of the transparent soda.
"Fans have been asking for [Crystal Pepsi] for a while now," says Linda Lagos, Pepsi's marketing director. "So, it was kind of a nice combination of everything, with the '90s coming back [into pop culture] and it being extremely relevant for Pepsi because of the fandom behind Crystal Pepsi itself."
Lagos adds that Pepsi wishes to give a holiday treat to fans who have been keen in asking for the popular transparent soda to make a comeback.
This promo is only open to fans in the United States.
Lucky winners should receive their six-pack Crystal Pepsi a day before Christmas day.
Pepsi has yet to disclose if the comeback is going to be permanent.
How To Enter The Crystal Pepsi Sweepstakes
Fans can enter the sweepstakes via Pepsipass.com or amoe.pepsipass.com from Dec. 10 to 11.
Customers should already have 1,000 points on their Pepsi Pass.
"If you do not have the 1,000 points needed, you can always earn points by hanging out with friends who also have Pepsi Pass, referring friends, or by visiting Pepsi Pass locations," says Pepsi.
Promo codes which can be spotted on Pepsi's social media channels, will also give fans 1,000 points needed to enter the sweepstakes.
