Pepsi To Roll Out First-Ever Line Of Androids

It's the joy of Pepsi ... for your data plan? On Monday morning, PepsiCo's China division announced plans to release its own line of Androids for the Chinese mobile market.

Comparable with the Android 5.1, the touchscreen smartphone, named Pepsi P1, is set to have some respectable (but not necessarily innovative) specs, with a RAM of 2 GB, 1.7-GHz processor, and clocking in at 16 GB of internal storage. The mobile will also come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 5-megapixel camera for the front, and a 13-megapixel camera for the back. It also looks pretty certain that the Pepsi P1 will have some sort of sensor—most likely for fingerprints—making it relevant for security purposes, if not competitive.

As for the P1's aesthetic? True to the ethic of the multinational beverage and food corporation it's borne from, the smartphone's display is cast in red, blue, and white, PepsiCo's colors. Leaked photos of the phone also showcase a silver veneer for the P1's actual hardware.

Concrete details, specs, and more will be available next week; the Pepsi P1 is set to be officially presented by the cola company on Oct. 20.
