Amazon Prime Now continues to push the envelope on its services.
The tech company announced Thursday that Prime Now customers in Baltimore can enjoy local restaurant delivery, free and in under one hour, for a limited time. The announcement includes local favorites such as City Cafe, HomeSlyce, Indigma, Locust Point Steamers, Matsuri, Shiso Tavern and The Helmand, to name a few.
With the service, Prime Now members in Baltimore can view all participating restaurants and their menus before placing their orders and even tracking their delivery status in real-time over 60 minutes or less. Users can download the Prime Now app and check if delivery is available in their ZIP code area.
"Baltimore's vibrant mix of neighborhoods has created an equally vibrant food scene," Gus Lopez, general manager of Amazon Restaurants, said in a company press release statement. "We're excited to offer Amazon Prime customers a fast and convenient way to enjoy some of the city's best restaurants without having to drive or take a water taxi."
Local restaurants included in Amazon's delivery service are excited about the announcement and the chance to inject more revenue into their businesses.
"Customers love the convenience of delivery and now with Prime Now they can enjoy high-quality food from great chefs delivered within an hour," said Gino Cardinale, owner of the City Cafe, in Amazon's release. "City Cafe has been serving customers in Baltimore for over 21 years and we're excited to work with Prime Now to offer customers a new, convenient way to enjoy great food from the comfort of their home."
The Prime Now restaurant delivery covers 10 ZIP codes across downtown Baltimore and Amazon plans to add restaurants in the coming weeks for the city. Last month, Amazon Prime Now announced local restaurant delivery in Los Angeles.
