Amazon Prime Now Introduces Delivery From Local Los Angeles Restaurants

Perhaps Amazon Prime Now's service has never been more savory than this.

On Tuesday, the tech giant announced its one-hour delivery service, for Amazon Prime members, will now be delivering dishes from Los Angeles restaurants such as Umami Burger, Baby Blues BBQ, Feast from the East, Wokcano, Hurry Curry of Tokyo, and more to local customers.

Prime members in Los Angeles using their Prime Now smartphone app are eligible to view participating restaurants, browse menus and place their orders. The food will then be delivered in an hour or less straight from the restaurant to your address. Although there are no hidden service fees and all orders are free for a limited time, the latter could change as the experiment expands.

"Los Angeles is known for great local restaurants with cuisines from around world," Gus Lopez, general manager at Amazon Restaurants, said in a company press release to announce the local delivery service. "We're excited to offer Amazon Prime customers in Los Angeles a fast and convenient way to enjoy some of the city's best restaurants without having to stand in line or brave the traffic."

The service began Tuesday in select Los Angeles zip codes and plans to ramp up in the coming days. As much as your mouth might be watering right about now, Prime Now making food deliveries has local Los Angeles restaurants equally excited about broadening their reach and giving people what they want ... now.

"Whether you're craving our Smokin' Wings, Baby Back Ribs or Brisket, you can now place an order directly through the Prime Now app and have our unique, made-from-scratch experience delivered in less than an hour," Liz Gulash from Baby Blues BBQ said in Amazon's press release. "We are excited to offer new and existing customers yet another convenient way to enjoy Baby Blues BBQ."
