PlayStation Plus Brings 'Freedom Wars' and 'King's Quest' In December

Just in time for the United States' Thanksgiving holiday, Sony has revealed the December 2015 free video game lineup for the company's PlayStation Plus subscribers. As always, the offer includes two games for the PlayStation 3, two for the PlayStation Vita, and two for the PlayStation 4—though PlayStation Vita users perhaps get the better deal overall this time.

For those unfamiliar with the program, PlayStation Plus is a monthly subscription that Sony sells for its most recent video game consoles. Folks that subscribe receive discounts on games and other digital merchandise, and the company makes two games for each console free to download each month. At the end of said month, the old games rotate out, and a new set comes in, meaning there's a total of 72 games available in a given year if someone (like myself) has a full Sony library.

So long as a user remains a subscriber, they can download and play everything they've received for free during their subscription. If they lapse, they're unavailable, but they remain attached to their account should they resubscribe.

Usually these drop the first Tuesday of the month, meaning the full list below is scheduled to become available for free on Dec. 1.

PlayStation Vita:

Freedom Wars

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken

PlayStation 3:

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

SSX - Snowboard Supercross

PlayStation 4:

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition

King's Quest - Chapter 1: A Knight to Remember

As mentioned before, these are some fairly low-key releases—but that's not really a commentary on their specific quality. Some are quite good, but there's nothing really stellar in the lineup. Freedom Wars for Vita is an interesting get as it's likely that most folks never bothered picking it up for retail price, but everything else is something folks might have already grabbed or played before.
