Star Wars Battlefront is about as faithful to the look and feel of a galaxy far, far away as you can get, but it is a little short on content. With only four planets represented from the franchise's massive universe, fans are eagerly awaiting more content to come in the form of new planets, weapons and vehicles.
Much of that new content will be coming in the form of expansion packs, bundled together as part of the game's $50 season pass. But while the season pass will include new planets, heroes, weapons and vehicles, EA has now that at least some new content will be coming free for all Star Wars Battlefront players.
"We are planning to support Star Wars Battlefront with new content well into the future," Patrick Söderlund, executive VP at EA, says. "We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass."
The first wave of free DLC is the previously announced Battle of Jakku, which includes two new maps set on the desert planet seen in the trailers of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It will also include a new 40 man game mode called Turning Point, in which the Rebels must push back the Empire to their base of operations. The Battle of Jakku DLC will be free for all players starting Dec. 8, with those who pre-ordered the game getting early access on Dec. 1.
That more, free content will be added to the game is good news for fans who have found Star Wars Battlefront to be lacking in the variety department. New star cards and more planets to wage war on will go a long way towards making Star Wars Battlefront the game fans dreamed it could be.
