If the Korean Game Ratings Board is to be believed, Resident Evil 6 may soon be getting a face-lift for modern consoles.
As reported by Gematsu, Resident Evil 6 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has appeared on the Korean Game Ratings Board site. It's worth noting that the Korean Ratings Board also leaked the existence of the console version of Resident Evil: Revelations back in 2012 before it was officially announced, lending more credibility to this being the real deal.
Capcom has recently found plenty of success in remastering older Resident Evil titles, as the digital release of the original Resident Evil became Capcom's fastest selling digital-only game ever. The company will soon release an HD remaster of Resident Evil Zero, with work having also started on a Resident Evil 2 remake.
Still, the idea of bringing Resident Evil 6 over to current-gen consoles is a little strange. The game was panned by critics and fans alike, and it only released three years ago. One would think Resident Evil 5 or 4 would be much riper for the HD remaster treatment, as both those titles were received much more favorably. A multiplayer focused entry in the series, titled Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps, is also on the way.
This all comes as a producer on the franchise says to "stay tuned" for news on Resident Evil 7. Capcom's future plans for the franchise aren't entirely clear at this point, but while we wait for more HD remasters and the eventual announcement of the next installment in the series, we can always watch the Resident Evil musical.
