Motorola has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update to Moto X Style in India.
Motorola announced the Moto X Style in July this year and the handset hit the Indian market in October this year. The Motorola smartphone comes running on Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out of the box and now it has started receiving the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update.
The software release should not come as a surprise as David Schuster, a senior director at Motorola, confirmed on Google Plus that the 2015 Moto X Style (3rd Gen) in India and the 2014 Moto X (2nd Gen) in Brazil will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming weeks.
With the software upgrade, customers will be able to enjoy a number of new features on their Moto X Style.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings a new "Doze" mode, which assists in preserving a device's battery. The feature detects when a device is not in use and goes into sleep state automatically. The doze mode works by shutting down all unnecessary apps and background processes for optimizing power.
The App Standby feature in the latest Android operating system (OS) also helps in reducing battery drain by putting less often used apps in a reduced activity state. Users also have the option to select specific apps, which they want to go on a standby mode.
One of the important features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expandable storage, which makes an SD card an extension of the internal storage of a device. Normally, SD cards are used for saving media files such as pictures, videos and more. However, with the latest Android OS, the SD card can also be used to store and run apps.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will also bring better volume controls to Moto X Style.
"Android Marshmallow provides a more clean and intuitive way to control the ringtone, media and alarm volume," per the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow changelog for the Moto X Style.

Motorola recommends that users who download the software should have at least 50 percent battery charge on their Moto X Style and their handsets should be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Motorola is releasing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in phases and customers should get a notification when their device has received the new software update. Customers can also check "Settings" of their smartphone to see if they have received the update.
