It's been a while since we've had any Bioshock news. Bioshock Infinite released back in 2012 to critical acclaim, but after the shuttering of series creator Irrational Studios, the franchise has been quiet.
Publisher Take-Two Interactive has stated in the past that more Bioshock games would be on the way, and the company's CEO recently doubled down on those statements during an investor conference.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick (via Gamespot), at the MKM Partners Investor Conference in New York City, says more Bioshock is on the way from developer 2K Martin, going as far as to call Bioshock "unquestionably a permanent franchise for our company and one that we do believe in."
Considering it has been three years since the release of Bioshock Infinite, an announcement about the next installment in the franchise will likely come sooner rather than later. 2K Martin was previously responsible for Bioshock 2, so the team is no stranger to the franchise.
As for what Bioshock creator Ken Levine is up to now that he is no longer working on the franchise? He is leading a small team of developers inside Take-Two on a new mysterious game. Though Zelnick didn't have too many details to share about Levine's new project, he did say it will be innovative.
"I'm not going to steal Ken's thunder, but we're thrilled to be in business with Ken," Zelnick said. "What I can say is you would expect that Ken would work on something highly creative and innovative. I think that would be a reasonable expectation for whatever he does next."
A recent leak pointed toward the existence of a Bioshock Collection on current-gen consoles, though the collection has yet to be officially announced. It looks like fans may be waiting a while for more Bioshock, even if it's just a remastered version of the original.
