Since its inception, the Money in the Bank stipulation has led to WWE's major championship belts changing hands at the blink of an eye in the most opportune of ways.
Sunday night at Survivor Series wasn't any different. After Roman Reigns defeated his former Shield partner Dean Ambrose in a thriller to win the WWE World Heavyweight championship, his, well reign, would prove to be short-lived.
Before Reigns could even celebrate his accomplishment, Sheamus appeared, knocking him silly with a Brogue Kick and cashing in on his Money in the Bank calling card, pinning the newly-crowned champ to leave the pay-per-view event with the gold in tow.
Pretty unfortunate for Reigns, who had the tough task of getting past the conniving Alberto Del Rio before edging the Lunatic Fringe ... only to be blindsided by the Celtic Warrior and falling victim to the latest Money in the Bank winner.
Ironically enough, Sheamus was on the losing end earlier in the night, when his team of the New Day and King Barrett fell to the Usos, the Lucha Dragons and Ryback. After Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods abandoned him, the Celtic Warrior found himself as the lone member of the team standing against three of his opponents, resulting in too insurmountable of odds even for Sheamus.
The WWE Universe will be sure to hear more of Sheamus' capitalizing and preying on Reigns on Monday Night Raw.
However, Sunday's Survivor Series also saw the Brothers of Destruction, the Undertaker and Kane, defeat the Wyatt Family in celebration of the Phenom's 25th anniversary in WWE, as Nov. 22, 1990 and the same pay-per-view, marked his debut with the company.
