Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, is making a big name for itself on its home turf and in countries such as India along with other Asian territories. However, the company is looking to break into the U.S. market, and what better way to do so than with the Xiaomi MI4.
This won't be the first time Xiaomi has managed to break into the U.S. market since it has already done so with other MI handsets in the past. However, the MI4 could be the device that gets the attention it so desires.
Earlier today, the Mi 4 finally got approved by the FCC to enter the U.S. market, so folks who have been looking forward to it should keep an eye out.
Aside from the tests carried out on the handset, the documents do not shed light on anything else. Not even an image of the Mi 4 was placed in them, so as it stands, there's not much to talk about in terms of what to expect from the U.S. version.
In terms of specs, the Mi 4 is packing a punch. It comes with a 5-inch display with full 1080p HD support. On the inside, there a powerful Qualcomm 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU and a good enough Adreno 330 GPU.
What about the RAM and internal storage? The Xiaomi Mi 4 is making waves with its 3 GB RAM, but probably not so much with 16 GB to 64 GB internal storage seeing as several smartphones have 128 GB models. The battery is also reliable due to its 3,080 mAh size, so it should last for at least a whole day with moderate use.
On the matter of the cameras, the device packs a 13-megapixel shooter at the rear. We understand the sensor is made by Sony, so it should take decent enough photographs. Then there's the eight-megapixel camera at the front for those who want to take selfies and make video calls.
Overall the Xiaomi Mi 4 is a solid handset, but with several killer handsets from Samsung, Apple and others already taking the U.S. market by storm, Xiaomi won't have it easy.
